South London born and raised, it is evident that Devaney was exposed to many cultural influences within her music. This background has been a constant thread throughout her career, informing her unique style and approach to music production.
Her journey in music began in the early 2000s when she started DJing at local clubs and events. Her passion for music and natural talent behind the decks quickly earned her a reputation as a versatile DJ. As her popularity grew, so did her ambition. Charlotte began to experiment with music production, blending elements of hip-hop, house, and bass music to create her own sound.
In 2013, with the release of her debut single, "Flip It (The Edit)," featuring Snoop Dogg, the track was an instant hit, propelling her into the spotlight and solidifying her status as a rising star in the dance music world. This was my first introduction to Devaney.
Charlotte then continued to release a string of successful singles, including "Bass Dunk" featuring Fatman Scoop and "Avocado" featuring Rich The Kid.
However, her influence extends beyond her music. She is a strong advocate for female empowerment within the music industry, often using her platform to support and mentor upcoming female artists. Her work as a DJ has taken her to all corners of the globe, performing at some of the world's most prestigious venues and festivals. From the beaches of Ibiza to the streets of New York, Charlotte's music definitely has a universal appeal. Her drop in June of this year "Don't Let Me Leave" with Leanne Louise is a prime example of her ability to tailor her sound to a specific audience and moment, all while keeping her style fresh and relevant.
In addition to her DJing and production work, she has appeared in several films, including the cult British comedy How to Lose Friends & Alienate People, ( which is a classic). She is a real go getter and someone that believes in "Karma and Fate", something that has evidently rubbed off on her record label - Karma London. Her vision is extensive, her passion relentless and her music - fucking brilliant.
Over lockdown we saw the launch of her critically acclaimed Hologram Sessions - Watch the interview to find out how this came about. This series has had a fantastic response, showing yet again, how her creative artistry keeps her at the top of the game.
Devaney shows no signs of slowing down, Literally travelling 7 hours from London to wet Clitheroe to perform on the ring stage at Beatherder Festival (Watch our feature video here). On stage, Devaney radiates an insane energy that she’s always had and always will. Her ability to electrify the crowd is an art form in itself, something I feel many artists in her genre often miss. The dedication she brings is undeniable, and the hard work is evident. With a career spanning over two decades, she has firmly established herself as a force to be reckoned with in the dance music scene. Her talent for constantly reinventing herself while staying true to her roots has earned her both a loyal fan base and well-deserved respect.
As of today, 16th April, Charlotte has released yet another banger "Latina" which you can stream by clicking here. They can never make me hate you Charlotte Devaney, your music and sets slap.
In a world where the music industry is constantly evolving, Devaney stands out as a true innovator and is what makes her one of the most exciting artists to watch in the dance music scene.
